Challenge 2 Week three: some DT inspiration for you

Hello everyone, and welcome to another week on the challenge blog. Thank you for the fabulous projects that you are continuing to enter into the challenge, we love seeing what you have created.

This week we have some great inspiration from our DT members for you using the colours for the current challenge.

Shirley has made this steampunk inspired tag:

Whilst Debbie has kindly provided a step by step tutorial for her cute owl card:

You will need:
Chocolate Baroque stamps:
Snowy Scenes, Amazing Birthday, Honeysuckle Butterfly
White and Brown card
Distress Inks- Crushed Olive and Stormy Sky
Memento Ink-Tuxedo Black
Paper for masks
A selection of brown alcohol pens
Water spray
Sakura Pigma Micron Pen
  1. To make the background, tear a piece of paper and lay over the card and colour the bottom with the Crushed Olive ink. With the second torn piece of paper, mask the grass. Cut or punch a circle for the moon and colour the sky with the Stormy Sky ink. Replace the first masks, and lightly spritz with water then blot with a paper towel to remove some of the ink.
  2. When dry, stamp the small grass from the Honeysuckle Butterfly stamp plate with the Crushed Olive across the bottom. Stamp the sentiment on the bottom right corner.
  3. Using a ruler, draw two crossing lines with the Micron black pen for the Owls to sit on.
  4. Ink the owl stamps from the Snowy scenes stamp plate with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colour with the Alcohol pens.
  5. Cut out the owls. Place the larger owls on foam pads and glue the smaller owls to give a feeling of perspective.
  6. Matt the scene with the brown card and fix to the base card.
We will be back next week with another post, and hope to see lots more entries for the current challenge.

  3. The blue steampunk butterfly is striking against the warmth of the background & I particularly like the tone on tone stamping mixed in with the pale gears. The owls are great fun & I can almost feel them looking down from their perch on those wires.
